Goku was the First to turn Super Saiyan on TV but Broly was the one who actually turned Super Saiyan First in the DBZ Universe.Broly was born with extreme amount of power when he was a Baby so thats why they named him The Legendary Super Saiyan.But the Saiyans were afraid of his Powers so they tried to kill him.Goku was the first person to turn Super Saiyan in public so people thought he was the first.But they cleared it out on the Broly Movie that he was the First one
Uhm, I’m not sure about this but I always thought Broly was just a filler character in DBZ. Mainly because he didn’t really exist in the original DBZ manga. He was probably made up by animation company after they seek for Akira Toriyama opinion about The Legendary Super Saiyan movie.
Sorry if I’m wrong though, but I think Goku was the first Super Saiyan since I followed the manga from the start till it end. I always thought some of the extra episode and the movie they made was just a filler. Just like the Garlic Jr saga. Those movie wasn’t really related to original plot or storyline in Dragon Ball Z… But if we count him in Dragon Ball universe and it already confirmed by Akira Toriyama that Broly actually existed in DBZ plot of course he was the first Super Saiyan.
So yeah, until that been confirmed I’ll just stick to the original storyline that said Goku was the first Super Saiyan in DBZ.
